Stuart Parkinson, BSL Teacher, Youth Mentor, Youth Worker and Specialist Study Skills Tutor
I have over the years been a trustee of various organisations such as Wales Council for the Deaf, Cardiff and District Hearing Impaired Support Group, the British Deaf Association and now most recently the Cardiff Deaf Centre. The various organisational cultures of these different charities has taught me a lot. Different knowledge and skills are needed as a Trustee and Cardiff Deaf Centre means a lot to me. It has so much potential.
Professionally I have been a Youth Worker over 20 years and have a BA Hons Youth and Community Studies degree. BSL Teacher since 1997 and qualified with PGCE PCET. Specialist Study Skills Tutor at the University of South Wales and more recently a Youth Mentor for the BDA.
My hobbies include travelling, meeting people, reading and sign singing too. I am also known for campaigning for equality and am trying to ensure that deaf and hard of people have a good service via the Cardiff County Council.
